In Acceptance there is Peace

Accepting what is beyond our control takes us closer to valued living.

illustrationWhat is it that's troubling you?

Perhaps it's a major change in your personal life, maybe it's at work. Perhaps your mind is chattering away to you about something someone said to you or how you should or shouldn't be living your life. Whatever it is ask yourself, "is this something that's within my control or is it out of my control"?

Learning to accept what is out of your control is not easy. Acceptance is not about liking something irrespective of how you feel about it. Equally it's not about just putting up with something while you get on with life. Acceptance is about acknowledging that in life 'stuff' happens and that as human beings we are not perfect.

To choose acceptance rather than avoidance takes courage. But once you have accepted your life for what it is you will find a peace that is a building block that helps you move towards your goals and valued living.
